Muse can move a shopping task from finding an item to requesting approval for a purchase. The part worth understanding is what you are approving: the exact order and its final total.
What Stripe announced
Stripe's September 8 announcement says US consumers can connect Link to Muse. At businesses accepting Link, the purchase can use a saved payment method. Elsewhere, Link can issue a single-use virtual card limited to the approved purchase. Stripe says the consumer approves the transaction total in chat and Muse does not see the underlying payment details.
The item price is only one part of the decision
A comparison result might show the price before shipping or tax. Checkout may introduce a faster delivery option, an accessory or a different seller. Ask for the complete order before approving it.
Prepare the checkout for [exact item and variant]. Show the seller, quantity, item price, shipping, tax, total and delivery estimate. Use standard shipping. Tell me about any difference from the option I selected. Wait for my purchase decision.
This is an original example prompt. It doesn't replace the app's approval controls.
What a virtual card does not decide for you
A payment mechanism does not tell you whether you picked the right size, whether the seller's return terms suit you or whether the delivery date meets your deadline. Those remain part of the order review.
For a gift, compare the arrival estimate with the occasion. For furniture, confirm dimensions and assembly requirements. For a recurring purchase, check whether the checkout creates a subscription.
Keep four stages separate
- Found: a possible item matches the request.
- Prepared: the exact cart and total are ready to inspect.
- Approved: you have agreed to that purchase.
- Confirmed: the merchant has provided an order record.
These are our review stages, not names of Muse screens. A task can stop between them, so ask which stage it reached if the result is unclear.
If checkout stalls
Look for a merchant confirmation and check the order history before trying again. If a payment appears but no order is visible, contact the relevant provider rather than repeating checkout blindly.
The availability of payment infrastructure also doesn't establish that every retailer permits an agent to complete its checkout. Treat the actual merchant response as part of the task.
A useful first purchase request
Choose one exact item with a clear variant and delivery requirement. A request to buy a particular replacement filter is easier to inspect than “find me something good for the kitchen.”
For the research stage, see how to make a price watch precise.
