Business information, made useful

JSON-LD, business facts and APIs: what is the difference?

Understand what website structured data does and how it differs from a public facts endpoint and a connector.

JSON is a data format

JSON stores information as named fields, lists and values. A public facts.json file can describe your business without providing an interactive booking system. The structure still needs documentation so a reader or software integration knows what the fields mean. A file that downloads correctly is not automatically an approved connector.

JSON-LD describes a page

JSON-LD is a format commonly used for structured data on a website. Schema.org supplies vocabulary such as Organization and LocalBusiness. Google documents supported structured-data features and their requirements. Markup should describe the visible page accurately; adding it does not guarantee a special search appearance.

An endpoint makes information available

An HTTPS endpoint lets software request information at a known address. It may return a static JSON file or run code to produce a response. A static endpoint can be suitable for public information that changes infrequently, provided someone keeps it current. Live inventory or appointment availability requires a connection to the actual source system.

A connector adds platform-specific requirements

A connector tells a platform how to use a service and may need authentication, documented operations and review. A public data file is one building block. Requirements vary by platform, so verify its current documentation and test the intended behavior before describing an integration as working.

Choose the smallest useful setup

For hours, service descriptions and existing links, start with accurate public facts. For booking or account-specific information, assess the source system, permissions and failure cases first. Do not add write operations just to make a simple service look more technical.

What our builder exports

The free tool creates a plain business-facts JSON draft. It does not create Schema.org markup, install anything on your website or submit a connector application. Review the values, choose where to host the file and document how it should be used.
